NFIP Extended Three-Months As Part of Continuing Resolution

Congress recently approved a continuing resolution funding the government through Dec. 8. Included in that package is the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) that was set to expire on Sept. 30. Congress now has more time to consider reforms to the program as it is extended to Dec. 8.

In a June meeting with Jeb Hensarling, Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, Dallas BA discussed the importance of a proper and long-term reauthorization of the NFIP.

The resolution also includes over $15 billion for emergency funding with over $7 billion of that directed towards recovery from Hurricane Harvey. President Trump signed the resolution into law on Sept. 8.
