Bonds remain strong with city of Dallas community leaders and regular meetings are held with chief building officials to discuss ever-changing issues such as codes and Green Built implementation. Numerous Dallas Division board members have participated in meetings with members of our Congressional delegation to voice the HBA’s opinions regarding the issues in Washington. Community service has played an important role for the division last year, as it again participated with the Red Cross and the Dallas Fire Department to provide and install smoke detectors in low income homes. The division also held a coat drive for the homeless, collecting more than 100 coats for adults and children. The division renamed its annual golf tournament in memory of past board member Mike Willett, donating proceeds to The Make-A-Wish Foundation. The Dallas Division has also taken on the “Miss Betty” project in coordination with HomeAid, rebuilding the home of an elderly woman in South Dallas.
